I’m really not a word person. So this blogging journal thing is a little out of character for me. Please hang in there while I try.

A bit about animals from a single woman.

Why can’t I find a man, men or any group of y chromosomes that I adore the way I adore the furry people of the world? I am not a youngster. I have been married (once) and have had relationships. What can I say? My heart melts for animals.

Is there something wrong with me? Am I unusually obsessed or detached from the human world? I hope not. I think not. But there is something strong and true about the level of feeling that conveys with a furry person. For me.

I might be in a crowd at a farmer’s market. Way down the row, I see a dog. He sees me. We ‘see’ each other and his body starts squirming like a wiggly worm out of the dirt. His face is smiling and he nods his chin up a few times as if to say, “Oh, you see me! Do you see me? I think you see me!! OhgoodOhgoodOhgood!!!”

And I do see him. When I approach to extend my hand and heart, the owner patiently allows us our mutual admiration moment. It is pure fun and joy.

An ex used to refer to me as Snow White. I think he was jealous. No, actually he was jealous. Perhaps he never realized that there is plenty of love to go around. Life is simply better with more love in it. And pet hair.

PALS – Pet & Animal Lovers Service

My friend Katherine is an amazing woman. Not only is she a successful business owner who raised two kids on her own, but she is an animal lover. She is an animal lover whose business is in regards to the death of people’s pets. Katherine does pet cremation.

When I went to her facility for the first time, I was astonished at how clean and organized it was. In fact, it appeared so spotless you could safely eat off the floor. Five second rule or otherwise!

Katherine is a stickler for doing things the right way, for the right reasons. Her sense of ethics and values is paramount. And for an industry that is unregulated, finding someone like Katherine to do your best friend’s cremation is a Godsend.

Without filling you in on what the other cremation providers are known to do, let me say that I would unequivocally recommend PALS to anyone who valued having their pet’s cremation truly be their pet and not some other animal’s cremains. You may also view the actual cremation in person at PALS, if that helps you in your journey of saying goodbye.

Throughout the years, Katherine has become a grief support specialist and has an entire section on her website dedicated to the loss of a beloved companion animal. Share this with friends or family as needed:

Cherish your time with your furry companions and love them without hesitation. I give thanks to Katherine and her staff for providing this service and doing their jobs with high integrity and purpose.
